Re: Conducting Annual Meeting of Members ~ 2020 Covid Pandemic Our Bylaws require Members to hold an Annual Meeting for the election of Directors. The election of Directors is important and necessary to the health of our Association. It is the ONLY opportunity that Members have to vote for directors! New Mexico's pandemic restrictions prohibit gatherings of more than 5 people, and authorize quarantine for visitors from high-risk states (such as Arizona). Despite hope, it doesn't appear that these restrictions will be rolled back anytime soon. For the entire membership's welfare, and for the welfare of the Association itself, the Board reasons that we cannot conduct an in-person Annual Meeting. Due to New Mexico's restrictions and mandates , our Association is unable to achieve compliance for an in-person Annual Meeting of Members, and results in the following effort: For the year 2020 only , the Blue Hills Ranch Landowners Association's Annual Meeting of Members election of Directors will be conducted electronically, by email. A returned ballot will serve as being "in attendance" for the purpose of achieving a quorum. Ballots may only be returned via email. There are 5 Directors on the Blue Hills Ranch Landowners Association's Board of Directors. Directors serve for 2 years (alternating). Mike Thode's directorship ends next year, 2021. Mike currently serves as Vice President. The Treasurer (vacant) position also ends next year, 2021. The Treasurer's (2020) duties have been assumed by the Secretary. Pursuant to our governing documents, Directors may fill the Treasurer position by appointment, or continue to utilize the Secretary to fulfill the Treasurer's duties through 2021. There are 3 Directorship positions open for the 2020 Annual Meeting Election. President - currently held by Tammy Chapman Secretary/Treasurer - currently held by Sharon Porter Member at Large - currently held by Karleen Pettis PLEASE BE ADVISED: Tammy Chapman, Sharon Porter and Karleen Pettis will NOT be volunteering and will NOT accept a nomination for a directorship position in the 2020 Annual Meeting election . It's time to throw YOUR hat into the ring! Volunteer! Nominate someone! Keep the momentum going! Members are provided ONE opportunity each year to vote for Directors. Our governing documents dictate that Members may recall a director(s) and, that the remaining Directors appoint someone to fill the resulting vacancy. Members do not cast votes to fill a resulting vacancy. When Members don't vote during the election of Directors during the Annual Meeting, they do not get a do-over! This is why the Annual Meeting for the election of directors is so important. This is every single Member's ONE & ONLY pandemic opportunity to 'show up' and vote without attending in-person or by proxy.
